First Born Second
First Born Second is a multi-media project celebrating the British-born children of Caribbean immigrants. Through filmed interviews, new writing, events and artistic expression, it explores their unique identities, challenges, and contributions. Supported by Arts Council England, it will provide fresh perspectives and understanding of their impact on contemporary Britain.
Finding Your Roots
We sent Abbi Bayliss, a fantastic Bristol-based digital illustrator and visual artist, on a transformative adventure to to Dominica in the Caribbean to find out all about her maternal ancestry. Abbi will be sharing this personal quest to uncover and celebrate her unique cultural heritage and identity in a small booklet later this year. Finding Your Roots is a core part of our larger First Born Second programme.
